Wilderness First Aid Part 1 (3 hours) Age 7+
- How to prepare yourself for the woods
- How to make a pre-departure plan
- What to bring in a backpack (pre-departure list)
- How to build a shelter in the woods
- Moving a casualty to shelter and improvising a stretcher
- Survival tips on what to eat and drink in the woods
- How to recognize when someone is in Hypothermia & Frostbite
- Heat exhaustion
- How to keep a casualty warm or cool
This course can be given in a nearby park or woods at your location.
Participants are asked to bring a blanket.
You can have as many children as you want for each program….provided there are enough camp councillors with the children.
Wilderness First Aid Part 2 (3 hours) Age 7+
- What to do if you get lost in the woods
- How to make distress signals
- What to do if confronted with wild animals (bears, snakes, wolves)
- How to improvise a splint & other first aid supplies
- Animal bites and stings – Epipen use
- Internal & External Bleeding
- Practical wilderness scenarios
This course can be given in a nearby park or woods at your location.
Participants are asked to bring a blanket.
You can have as many children as you want for each program….provided there are enough camp councillors with the children. Prerequisite to taking this course is the Wilderness First Aid Part 1 course above.
Bicycle Safety (3 hours) Age 7+
- Riding on your own
- A bike is a vehicle
- Use your street sense
- Signs of safety
- Staying away from trouble
- Handling your bike
- Protect your head – helmet use
- Ride a safe bike
- ABC quick check
- Other important information
Participants are encouraged to bring their bicycle & helmet.
